I found myself preparing for an interview that could lead to promotion to Lieutenant with a different Fire Service organization. I hadn’t had to interview for a job since I first got hired 20 years ago. Joanna worked with me to prepare for the interview. The most useful technique she used was to video record me while she asked typical interview questions. It was a big realization to see how body language and posture can speak contrary to a message being delivered. Joanna also helped me to focus on delivering impactful answers by carefully choosing wording that focus on being positive and confident. With Joanna’s expert coaching, I was successful in this competition and achieved the higher rank.
Joanna greatly assisted us in translating a very ambiguous concept into a superb result that measurably improved our hiring practices.
Thanks to Joanna‘s expertise and guidance, several of our young hockey clients have been educated in the art of the interview. Our clients will carry these skills with them throughout their career and beyond. Most of Joanna‘s work has been through Skype and while in some cases thousands of miles away, Joanna’s work with our clients is very effective. Development of these young men clients is a process encompassing issues both on and off the ice, including verbal communication, dealing with the media, team interviews, all part of the reality that they must deal with and excel at. Joanna’s teaching and work with them continues to be instrumental in their growth.
Joanna is a pro whose talents were integral to the success of a big media-relations project I undertook with a major client. I have every confidence In recommending Joanna for future communications projects.
Joanna recently taught two workshops for the University of Northern BC’s Managers, Directors and Deans, the feedback from our participants was phenomenal, “this is the best workshop I have ever attended”, “please make sure you bring her back”. The workshop was appropriate to the audience, practical and immediately applicable, easy to grasp, entertaining and full of real life examples and opportunities to practice. Gary, the cameraman was a gem, his demeanour was perfect, we did not feel threatened in front of the camera, nervous, yes, but a safe environment to hone in our skills.
Joanna offered me superb ideas for improving my presentations and for improving my performance as a presenter. If you’re ready to move beyond Death by PowerPoint, ask Joanna to help you.
